What is Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a totally natural phenomenon and is very pleasant and relaxing.  We experience a form of hypnosis several times each and every day, which we tend to call day-dreaming! Whilst in hypnosis you are still able to converse easily and remain fully aware of where you are and what is happening to you.  At all times you will stay in control of your thoughts and emotions.

The largest proportion of our mind has a potential which we rarely realise.  This is our subconscious mind and contains all our memories, habits, basic intelligence and is responsible for everyday tasks such as blood pressure, heart rate, the immune system and the things we do naturally, such as walking, breathing and talking.  It cannot distinguish between imagination and reality and it runs programmes it considers protective of us.

Hypnotherapy can help you to conquer many of the problems and symptoms that might be holding you back or stopping you from leading a happy and fulfilled life. It might be that you simply want to stop smoking without the fear of withdrawal, that you have an anxiety that makes you lack confidence, or that you are unable to engage with people. Whatever your issue, it can be addressed in a professional, caring and non-judgmental way with a view to putting an end to your symptoms as quickly as possible.

Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis does not involve being asleep, although inevitably your eyes will be closed. Hypnosis does involve being in a trance-like state; but the client actually remains in a heightened state of awareness during which the conscious mind is suppressed and the subconscious mind is revealed.

Hypnosis is a different state of consciousness which we can naturally enter into so that beneficial suggestions can be made directly to your subconscious mind. It is a fact that no-one can be hypnotised against their will; and, even when hypnotised, clients can reject any suggestions they find unacceptable.

Hypnosis is quite possibly the most powerful antidote to stress and anxiety that we have access to.
