In addition to psychotherapy, psychology and hypnotherapy, Phil Wheeliker of InTeDev Focussed Psychotherapy is able to offer energy therapies such as Emotional Freedom Techniques (for which he is a qualified practitioner) and Reiki (for which he is a Master and Teacher).
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
Many feel that the cause of all negative emotion is a disruption in the body's energy systems and that such disruptions can manifest in physical symptoms. In fact this theory is the basis of many ancient Chinese therapies.
EFT is a form of psychological acupressure based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousands years, but using only your fingertips and not needles.
EFT helps to:
- Remove negative emotions such as fear or anger.
- Remove or reduce the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
- Reduce cravings (i.e. tobacco and food)
- Reduce or eliminate pain.
- Implement positive goals.
It can be used in conjunction with Hypnotherapy or as a standalone therapy and can be easily taught so you can use it at home whenever you want.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" (although actual physical contact is not necessary) and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you and many comment on the heat emanating from the practitioner's hands. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to benefit from Reiki.
